ABOUT DOSING
CBD dosing varies from product to product, and pet to pet. Based on our extensive experience, we’ve compiled dosing charts below for our recommendations. The dose of Peak Therapeutics Hemp Extract has been determined to be 0.25-2.0* mg/kg (2.2 pounds) by mouth TWICE daily for most dogs and cats. Our recommendations for dosing are to start in the middle of the range and adjust from there, trying to find the minimally effective dose. We recommend most patients be started at 1.0 mg/kg orally TWICE daily for 2 weeks. The charts below are based on this dose. If the desired effect is achieved, we recommend decreasing in small increments or just leaving it. It is very hard to hurt a patient with low doses of CBD. If the desired effect is not achieved we recommend increasing the dose in 25% increments for a week at a time until the desired effect is achieved.
Precise dosing is based on volume. Dosing based on the gradations of the dropper is most accurate. A drop is about 0.05 ml but can vary tremendously based on the person making the drop and the product. A drop of the Yellow label is about 2.5 mg of full-spectrum CBD. A drop of the Blue and Green labels is about 5.0 mg full spectrum CBD. A drop of Pink and Purple labels is about 5.0 mg full spectrum CBD and 0.5 mg of the respective added specialized cannabinoid.
Dosing strictly by drops should be used only in cats and small dogs. If you want to use the drop method for larger dogs, we suggest the following:
-Pull up 0.5 ml in your dropper
-Count the number of drops in that amount
-Calculate the number of drops needed for your particular dog.
– For example, if you calculate your dog should get 0.35 ml and there are 10 drops in 0.5 ml, then your dog would need 0.35/0.5 x 10 = 7.5 which would be 7-8 drops. Let us know if you need help.
